Brent Wheeler

Brent Wheeler

President & Managing Director

Brent Wheeler is the President of Back Pain Centers of America. He leads the strategy and business operations of the organization. Back Pain Centers of America was founded with the vision that Brent had after working with clients like Laser Spine Institute, North American Spine and other national orthopedic spine surgery facilities.

His vision was to bring his knowledge of marketing and operational infrastructure along with best practices of patient recruitment to local and regional physician’s groups and hospitals. Brent’s vision has led patient recruitment strategies that have increased patient volume over 300% while decreasing patient acquisition costs through marketing and operational efforts for numerous practices and hospital groups.

With more than 17 years of experience in direct response communications in healthcare and managing a customer acquisition division that is focused on educating patients, Brent has forged strong internal and external business partnerships and is seen as an expert in the healthcare communications space. He has a firm understanding of direct response principles to create strategies that drive strong contributions to the financial health of orthopedic practices through volume while, at the same time, providing an incomparable patient service experience.

Brent joined the parent company, ResponseMine Inc. in 2004, launching Back Pain Centers of America to focus on educating patients searching for orthopedic treatment options, and building a world-class network of physicians, surgical centers and hospitals to serve patients in need. Prior to this, Brent worked at Google as a Client Service Manager and was charged with creating digital strategies with his clients.

Brent has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Marketing from University of North Georgia and is certified in leadership development training at Dale Carnegie.

David Secrest

David Secrest

Senior Vice President of Operations

David Secrest is Senior Vice President of Media & Operations. David leads a diverse team that executes and supports a best-in-class patient experience across media and call center services. David’s leadership during the launch of Back Pain Centers of America played a significant role in the development of our proprietary Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system which facilitates positive interactions and maintains regulatory compliance between our member board-certified physicians and surgical candidates.

Prior to Back Pain Centers of America, David spent ten years leading customer acquisition campaigns in the verticals of Health, Home, and Web Services. David has worked across multiple highly regulated and complex markets for clients such as CIGNA, AvMed, Clarian Health Plans and Laser Spine Institute. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems from the University of Georgia.

Erika Rosenthal

Erika Rosenthal

Vice President, Strategy and Healthcare Partnerships

Erika has 20 years in healthcare, both as an Ambulatory Surgery Center Administrator and as a patient educator. She works closely with the member partners to help increase awareness, lower healthcare operating costs, and use analytics to make solid growth decisions. Her passion is in helping to make the patient journey a positive experience.

Previously, Erika was Senior Vice President of Marketing for Okyanos Heart Institute and the Laser Spine Institute (LSI), and Vice President and Executive Director running LSI’s Ambulatory Surgical Center in Philadelphia. She has a deep understanding of what it takes to drive a P&L operation having managed budgets from under $1M to well over $100M. Erika has worked with Private Equity and Venture Capital groups as a retained executive or consultant for many years in order to help companies scale quickly and acquire new customers/patients.

Erika has a B.A. and M.B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a second Master’s in Digital Marketing from the University of San Francisco. She completed executive education programs at Wharton School of Business and at Cornell University. Erika has lived or worked in six countries providing her with a global business perspective.

Kathy Hebert

Kathy Hebert

Director of Physician Partnership

Kathy Hebert has extensive operational and development experience in the healthcare field of regenerative medicine. Ms. Hebert is also the president and co-founder of a non-profit association, the Alliance for the Advancement of Cellular Therapies (AACT), where she developed both a scientific and a patient advocacy platform for the advancement of regenerative medicine. Ms. Hebert’s personal experience with life-changing cellular therapies ignited her passion to be involved with an innovative new area of medicine bringing together the industry leaders in regulatory, science, and medicine to yield the best possible patient outcomes.

Ms. Hebert previously served in roles such as COO of Regenera Global, and Amari International. She was also the CEO and founder of Regenerative Connections, LLC. In addition to OBPC and her non-profit work, she is an accomplished, professional musician; therefore, she enjoys accompanying vocalists, operas, and instrumentalists in her leisure time. Ms. Hebert has a B.A. (cum laude) from Columbia College, and a master’s of church music and organ performance from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Louisville, Kentucky. The National Association of Professional Women awarded Kathy Hebert the 2014 VIP Woman of the Year for her accomplishments.

Eric Rehm

Eric Rehm

Director, Call Center Operations

Eric Rehm is Director, Call Center Operations. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations and improved performance of call center operations. Prior to Back Pain Centers of America, Eric was Renewals Supervisor with American Home Shield, a Servicemaster Company, for twelve years.

Eric is passionate about providing a service to truly help people get back to their way of life, and connecting surgeons with patients in need. His mission is to help provide an experience the prospective patient will remember positively.

He is a graduate of Des Moines Area Community College with an A.A.S. in Graphic Design, and is currently working towards a Bachelor of Applied Studies, Business Administration and Management at University of Iowa.
