Award Series

About Back Pain Centers of America’s Awards Series

Back Pain Centers of America’s Awards Series a nation-wide patient and physician network, is an active network participating in public awareness activities, the creation of patient educational resources and the development and implementation of an annual award series program to recognize and honor outstanding spinal care innovations both in technology, clinical practices, and spinal patient care. All categories are intended to improve the patient’s experience and bring about better patient outcomes.

The first annual Back Pain Centers of America Award Series was held in 2017 and winners may be seen below.

The categories for the 2018 Back Pain Centers of America Award Series are:

  • Outstanding Spinal Care Technology Innovation
  • Outstanding Patient Experience Innovation
  • Outstanding Patient Care Growth Award
Outstanding Spinal Care Technology Innovation Award

 

This 2018 Back Pain Centers of America award recognizes outstanding and innovative technological contributions that positively impact spine-related medical procedures. These may include a patented invention, the commercialization of a patented invention, procedure enhancements, or a novel procedure.

Entry Fees

There are no fees to enter for this award.

Timeline

  • January 8, 2018 – Call for Entries
  • April 3, 2018 – Entry Deadline
  • May 8, 2018 – Award Finalists Announced (without placement/rankings)
  • June 15, 2018 – Awards Announcement at Becker’s Orthopedic and Spine Conference, Chicago, IL
  • July, 2018 – Winners are published in Press Release and Online

Entry Criteria:

  • FDA-Approved Mobile Medical Applications (Apps)
  • General Hospital/ASC Devices and Therapeutic Products
  • Implant and Tissue-Replacement Products (including orthopedic, tissue implants and instruments)
  • Radiological and Electromechanical Devices (including diagnostic imaging devices, energy-emitting therapy devices)
  • Surgical Equipment, Instruments, and Supplies

To be eligible for entry, technology must be commercially available (able to be ordered or purchased) by December 31 in the year prior to the competition. New technology applications are accepted where the patent was invented and/or developed by the practitioner with written consent from the OEM.

Additional Eligibility Requirements are as Follows:

  • Technology commercially available in any country are eligible.
  • All applicable entered technology must be approved either by the U.S. FDA or other relevant notified body outside of the United States.
  • Technology previously entered but not selected as finalists or award winners may be entered again.
  • Entries are not accepted from jurors, their companies, or those companies’ subsidiaries in the year they act as jurors.

APPLICATION

 

Outstanding Patient Experience Innovation

 

This award recognizes innovation in Orthopedic and Spine Care in improving the patient experience. This can be a process, an innovative program, a system, or anything that measurably improves the patient experience in orthopedics and spine care.

Entry Criteria:

  • Improvement must be measurable with ability to show what the specific patient experience was before and after the innovation was implemented
  • Innovation must be unique to the practice and developed by the practice.
  • The patient experience innovation must have been in place at least six (6) months before entrance to this award series for consideration.

Additional Eligibility Requirements are as Follows:

  • Entries previously entered but not selected as finalists or award winners may be entered again.
  • Entries are not accepted from jurors, their companies, or those companies’ subsidiaries in the year they act as jurors.

APPLICATION

Outstanding Patient Care Growth Award

 

This award recognizes the practice which demonstrates the highest growth in a calendar year. This can be measured by the number of practitioners added to the practice, the percentage of increased numbers of calls transferred to the practice or additional locations opened by the practice to serve the patient community. Patient satisfaction is a factor as is the absence of negative patient reviews online.
Back Pain Centers of America awards this recognition based on data provided by the practice and our own tracking of patient calls.

Eligibility for Entry:

  • Practice must currently be a BPCA Physician Network Member and have been a member for at least six (6) months.

Timeline:

  • January 8, 2018 – Call for Entries
  • April 3, 2018 – Entry Deadline
  • May 8, 2018 – Award Finalists Announced (without placement/rankings)
  • June 15, 2018 – Awards Announcement at Becker’s Orthopedic and Spine Conference, Chicago, IL
  • July 2018 – Winners are published in Press Release and Online

Entry Criteria and Measurements:

Practice must currently be a member of the BPC network and have been at least six (6) months prior to entry.

Back Pain Centers of America awards this recognition based on data provided by the practice combined with BPC’s tracking of patient calls.
