Patient Satisfaction

Patient satisfaction is the hallmark of ambulatory surgery centers. Employees and management at ambulatory surgery centers work diligently to provide each patient with the best possible experience. Patient satisfaction consistently exceeds 90% in ambulatory center centers.



Each ambulatory surgery center undergoes extensive and rigorous inspection prior to licensing. Inspections, monitoring, and reporting continue to be a priority of the ambulatory surgery centers and the regulatory institutions that oversee them.

Ambulatory surgery centers are overseen by:

  1. State agencies
  2. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
  3. Voluntary accreditation by independent agencies such as the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and American Association for the Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF).

Inspections take place at regular intervals and if facilities are found to have deficiencies, the regulatory body ensures that these deficiencies are corrected. Safety and quality are further enhanced with each ambulatory surgery center having a mandated quality program that is specific to patient safety.



Patients can save as much as 60% of there out of pocket costs going to as ASC. Data from Healthcare Bluebook and HealthSmart revealed substantial out of pocket savings for patients who had surgery in the ambulatory surgery centers. Surgeries performed in the ambulatory surgery centers are elective and non-emergent resulting in less overhead and operating expenses. For these reasons the costs associated with having surgery at an ASC versus a hospital are much less. The savings are passed on through the lower facility fees to the patient resulting in lower deductibles and lower coinsurance.
